4.5.2. Removal and installation of a belt of the GRM drive (l engines 1.4 and 1.6)

Start performing procedures only after full cooling of the engine.

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  2. On the engine of 1.6 l separate the socket of the sensor measuring instrument of mass of an air stream (MAF).
  3. Remove the air filter with the soaking-up hose and a sleeve of an air inlet (see the Head of the Power supply system, release and decrease in toxicity of the fulfilled gases).
  4. Turn out bolts of fastening and remove the top cover of a gear belt.
  5. Take off a belt of the drive of auxiliary units.

On cars with To/in a belt only remove from a pulley, but do not take out it.

  1. Remove spark plugs (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance of the car).
  2. Turn out two bolts of fastening of the sensor of position of the camshaft (CMP) (1) and take him aside together with the attached electrical wiring.

  1. Remove the right forward wheel. If necessary remove a loker of a wheel arch. In the presence in a design of the engine of an oil bathtub uncover a flywheel (see the Head the Manual 5-staged box of gear shifting).
  2. Install the piston of the 1st cylinder in the provision of VMT (see the Section of the Procedure of repair of petrol DOHC engines without their extraction from the car).
  3. Remove a pulley of a bent shaft. At the same time you watch that earlier established provision of a shaft did not change. For deduction of a shaft from a provorachivaniye block it.
  4. Remove the lower cover of a gear belt.
  5. If it is supposed to reuse a gear belt, mark on it with an arrow the direction of its movement (clockwise).
  6. Weaken a tension of a gear belt for what weaken a fixing bolt of a tension roller. If necessary turn a tension roller a key hexagon for the clown in the direction of an hour hand.

Weakening of a tension of a belt of the GRM drive

  1. Take off a gear belt and check its state.

Do not change position of the engine at the taken-off gear belt.

Installation and tension

Before installation check whether VMT tags (see the Section of the Procedure of repair of petrol DOHC engines without their extraction from the car) on pulleys of camshafts, and also on a cogwheel of a bent shaft coincide. Installation of a gear belt at the incorrect provision of cogwheels can lead to povrezheniye of valves and pistons of the engine.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check adjusting position of the water pump. The tag (2) on the pump has to coincide with a tag (1) on the block of cylinders.

  1. Put on a gear belt cogwheels, without turning the last. At the same time surely you watch correctness of laying of a belt.

When laying a gear belt on a cogwheel of the inlet camshaft you watch to passing any tooth and that the tag during imposing of a belt coincided with the top edge of a head of cylinders.

  1. Pull a gear belt. For this purpose turn counterclockwise a tension roller a key hexagon through the adjusting clown so that to reach the maximum tension. The index of a tension roller at the same time stands on the right, near a tag. Enshrine a tension roller of a gear belt in this provision.

Initial tension of a gear belt

At adjustment of a tension of a gear belt its part between an intermediate roller from release and a cogwheel of a bent shaft has to be tense, otherwise exact adjustment is impossible.

  1. Screw an old bolt of fastening of a pulley of a bent shaft. Smoothly, without breakthroughs, turn a bent shaft by hand on 2 turns clockwise. Then check whether tags on cogwheels of camshafts and on a cogwheel of a bent shaft coincide. In case of discrepancy take off a belt and repeat adjustment.
  2. Adjust a tension of a gear belt. For this purpose weaken an adjusting bolt of a tension roller of a gear belt a little and turn the adjusting clown in the direction of an hour hand so that the provision of the index corresponded to accompanying illustrations.

Adjusting tags can differ depending on a year of release of the car. The specified values work also for adjustment of a tension of a gear belt within carrying out maintenance.

  1. Tighten an adjusting bolt of a tension roller with effort of 20 Nanometers.
  2. Establish the lower cover of a gear belt.
  3. Establish a cogwheel of a bent shaft. At the same time it is necessary to apply a new bolt always. At first tighten a bolt with effort of 95 Nanometers, and then tighten it a rigid key on a corner the 30th hail. and on a corner the 15th hail.
  4. Fix the sensor of position of the camshaft on a back cover of a gear belt by two bolts, having tightened them with effort of 8 Nanometers. Previously grease a carving of bolts with sealant.
  5. Further installation is made as it should be, the return to an order of removal of components.
