3.27. Replacement of brake fluid

Brake fluid is hygroscopic, i.e. it can absorb moisture, for example, through a time of a brake hose and an air vent of the tank. Thereof temperature of boiling of brake fluid decreases. With a strong pressure in a hydraulic path of the brake system for this reason couples can be formed that significantly reduces efficiency of operation of the brake system.

Brake fluid should be replaced each two years irrespective of the passable distance in kilometers. It is expedient to make replacement in the spring. At the frequent movement of the car in the conditions of the mountain area brake fluid needs to be replaced more often.

Follow safety rules at the treatment of brake fluid.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Pump out brake fluid from the tank, having brought it to level about 10 mm.

Do not empty the tank completely that air did not get into the brake system.

  1. Fill the tank with fresh brake fluid to the mark "MAX".
  2. Put on a hose the union of pumping of the right back wheel cylinder and substitute suitable capacity for collecting brake fluid.
  3. Ask the assistant to press a brake pedal several times. Without releasing a pedal of a brake turn out the pumping union. Through a transparent hose the movement of brake fluid will be visible. Screw the union when the pedal rests against a floor, and release a brake pedal. Repeat the described process for each union of pumping so many time how many it is necessary in order that in brake fluid there were no bubbles.

Fresh brake fluid can be determined by its light shade.

Pumping union reversing

  1. Screw the pumping union. Fill the tank with brake fluid.
  2. In the way described above pump out old brake fluid from other supports or wheel cylinders in the following sequence: back right - back left - forward right - forward left.
  3. Utilize old brake fluid in the places which are specially established for this purpose.
