7.4.3. Check of serviceability of functioning and condition of components of system of a charge


  1. Remember that violations of functioning of system of a charge are far not necessarily connected with failures of the generator. First of all always you make the following elementary checks:
    1. Check a condition of wires of the battery in places of their connection them to polar plugs of the last. Check reliability of fastening of terminal clips;
    2. Check a condition of the battery. In case of need make recharge of the last (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance of the car), or replace it new;
    3. Check a condition of an electrical wiring and electric connections of the generator and regulator of tension;
    4. Check a state and effort of a tension of a driving belt of the generator (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance of the car). In case of need make replacement;
    5. Check reliability of tightening of bolts of fastening of the generator;
    6. Start the engine and estimate intensity of the noise background published by the generator;
    7. At the corresponding complete set, check a condition of fusible inserts in the assembly block in a motive compartment of the car (see the Head Onboard electric equipment). If any of inserts failed, make investigation and elimination of the reasons of an overload;
    8. Check serviceability of functioning of a control lamp of a charge in an instrument guard of the engine. At the included ignition and the idle engine the lamp has to burn. Otherwise check a condition of the corresponding safety lock in the assembly block (see the Head Onboard electric equipment), and also filaments actually of a lamp. Make necessary replacements. If a lamp and its electrical wiring as it should be, it is necessary to replace the generator, or to make necessary recovery repair;
    9. If the control lamp continues to burn after start implementation, kill the engine and check a state and effort of a tension of a driving belt of the generator (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance of the car);
  2. Having switched off ignition, by means of the voltmeter measure tension given by the battery on the back party of the generator at the disconnected consumers of the electric power (the heater fan, the radio receiver, the lighter, the cooling system fan, etc., etc.). The result of measurement has to make about 12.5 In, or is slightly higher if the engine worked within the last hour.
  3. Start the engine and repeat measurement. With a frequency of rotation of a bent shaft about 1500 rpm (turns should be increased until indications of the voltmeter are not stabilized) tension has to make 13.8 ÷ 14.2 Century.
  4. Turn on driving beam of headlights, start the heater fan on the maximum high-speed mode, include heating of back glass and the radio receiver, - at normal functioning of system of a charge tension has to fall for a short time, then again to reach normal operating level about 13.5 Century. If there is a lowering of tension below than to 13 V, therefore, serviceability of functioning of system is broken.
  5. Dump engine turns to single, - tension of a charge should not fall below value in 13 Century. Squeezing of a foot brake should not lead to further undervoltage (lower than 13 V).

Some low-power generators can allow short-term lowering of the developed tension below value in 13 V, however then it has to be restored quickly.

  1. Disconnect everything consumers of the electric power, lift engine turns till 1600 a minute and again consider the indication of the voltmeter. Now tension should not rise above value of 15 V (the insignificant deviations in inverse proportion connected with ambient temperature are admissible).
  2. If the voltmeter registers excellent from stipulated values, it is necessary to replace the generator assembled with tension regulator, or to make the corresponding recovery repair in the conditions of a workshop of car service.
