4.6.6. Removal and installation of a head of cylinders

Removal

The head of cylinders is removed only from the cooled-down engine. The inlet pipeline and a final collector can be not disconnected.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  2. Uncover a broad tank of the cooling system, having pitted thereby pressure in system.
  3. Remove the air filter and a hose of air supply.
  4. Merge cooling liquid (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance of the car).
  5. On a turbodiesel turn out bolts of fastening and remove the holder of the soaking-up pipe and pipe of the forced air on a head and the block of cylinders. Pick up the directing phone of the probe of level of motive oil from the block of cylinders.

Close open connecting flanges on a turbocharger

  1. Take off a gear belt from cogwheels of TNVD and the camshaft (see the Section Removal and installation of a belt of the GRM drive).
  2. Turn out bolts of fastening of a cogwheel of the camshaft. Turn out a lock bolt of provision of VMT from a cogwheel of the camshaft and remove a cogwheel

Bolts of fastening of a cogwheel of the camshaft

  1. Turn out the top bolts of fastening of a back cover of a gear belt.
  2. Turn out bolts of fastening and remove a reception pipe of system of release from a collector and from the holder on an intermediate flange, on a turbodiesel - from a connecting branch pipe of a turbocharger.
  3. Turn out bolts of fastening and remove the thermofilter from a final collector.
  4. On a turbodiesel turn out a hollow bolt of a pressure head oil pipeline on a turbocharger.
  5. Remove fuel highways from nozzles and with TNVD, without changing their form.
  6. Remove a hose from a returnable fuel-supply line.
  7. Disconnect an electrical wiring plait from the inlet pipeline.
  8. On a turbodiesel remove a pressure head hose at the inlet pipeline.
  9. Disconnect an electrical wiring of the contact tire of candles of an incandescence.
  10. Separate the D/V socket of temperature of cooling liquid and the sensor of temperature.
  11. Disconnect cooling system hoses from the thermostat case.
  12. On the engine without pressurization disconnect a cooling system pipe from a final branch pipe. On a turbodiesel wring out a connecting branch pipe of the lower hose of the cooling system from a pipe.
  13. Give bolts of fastening of a head of cylinders outside inside at first on a quarter, and then half way. Then completely turn out bolts.

Order of an otdavaniye of bolts of fastening of a head of cylinders

It is necessary to turn out bolts only at the cooled-down engine.

  1. Wring out a little aside a back cover of a gear belt and raise a head of cylinders with the inlet pipeline and a final collector.

The description of the procedure of dismantling of a head of cylinders in case of need of carrying out its recovery repair, is provided in the Part the General and capital repairs of the engine of the present Chapter.

Preparation for installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Carefully smooth out and dry wipe the interfaced surfaces of a head and the block of cylinders. Use a firm plastic or wooden scraper for removal of all traces of material of old laying and a deposit. Also clear the bottoms of pistons. Be extremely careful - easy to damage surfaces. Remember that dirt should not get to maslotok, water galleries channels and carving openings - a zakuporta their traffic jams or stick with an adhesive tape. For prevention of hit of a deposit in gaps between pistons and cylinders, fill the last of dense lubricant which at the end of the procedure of cleaning will be easy to be removed with a rigid brush. Upon completion of cleaning wipe all surfaces with pure dry rags.
  2. Survey the interfaced surfaces of a head and the block on existence of deep scratches, cracks and other damages. Small defects can be eliminated with a small shaber, in more serious cases the head should be pierced, or to replace.
  3. Make sure of purity and dryness of carving openings, - just in case blow them compressed air (it is possible to use the bicycle pump). Presence at deaf openings of traces of lubricant can lead to destruction of the block when tightening bolts as a result of increase of hydraulic pressure.
  4. Bolts of fastening of a head are subject to replacement without fail, regardless of their current state.
  5. By means of a steel line and the probe of lezviyny type check planeness of the interfaced head surface (see the Part the General and capital repairs of the engine of the present Chapter).
  6. On these engines gap size between a head and pistons is regulated by laying thickness. As marking on the narrow party of laying are available two or one opening or openings can not be.
  7. If the head or the block of cylinders were processed, or new pistons were installed, thickness of sealing laying needs to be determined again. For this purpose by means of the indicator the size of its excess is measured in three points of the piston. Previously remove the remains of products of combustion on the bottom of the piston and the block of cylinders.

Measurement of size of a vystupaniye of pistons on engines of 1.7 l of SOHC


If at measurement of a vystupaniye of the piston one of 12 values exceeds the upper bound of the corresponding range on 0:05 mm, it is necessary to choose the following class of thickness.

Installation

Replacement of bolts of fastening of a head of cylinders is made without fail, regardless of their current state!


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Put new sealing laying without sealant on the fat-free interfaced surface so that not to block an opening. The inscription "OBEN/TOP" not to laying has to be turned up and towards a gear belt of the engine.
  2. Establish a head of cylinders.

At the same time any of pistons should not be in the provision of VMT. For this purpose previously turn a bent shaft forward or back on a quarter of a turn.

  1. Screw evenly new bolts of fastening of a head of cylinders as it should be, the return specified illustrations.

Apply surely new bolts. Bolts need to be tightened in three steps: at first with effort of 40 Nanometers, then twice on a corner 60 ÷ 75th hail.

  1. Establish a cover of a head of cylinders with new laying and tighten its fixture cross-wise with effort of 8 Nanometers.
  2. Installation is made as it should be, the return to an order of dismantle of components. Tighten fixture with the required effort. Use new consolidations at installation of the directing tube of the probe of measurement of level of motive oil, hoses of a turbocharger, a reception pipe of system of production of the fulfilled gases.
  3. In conclusion of installation fill the cooling system, and also check and, if necessary, modify oil level in the engine. If the engine was removed owing to damage of sealing laying of a head of cylinders, replace oil and an oil filter since in motive oil there can be a cooling liquid.
  4. Check and, if necessary, adjust the speed of idling and the maximum speed.
