4.6.5. Removal and installation of the camshaft

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Turn out bolts of fastening and uncover a head of cylinders.
  2. Take off a gear belt from a camshaft cogwheel (see the Section Removal and installation of a belt of the GRM drive).
  3. Remove a camshaft cogwheel (see the Section Removal and installation of the pallet of a case).
  4. Turn out the top bolts of fastening of a back cover of a gear belt.
  5. Give bolts of fastening and uncover camshaft bearings. At the same time turn off all bolts in the sequence specified on an accompanying illustration at first on 1/2, and then on 1 turn and then turn out them completely. Uncover bearings.

Order of an otdavaniye of bolts of fastening of covers of bearings of the camshaft

  1. Remove the camshaft, having evenly separated it from seats.
  2. Carefully remove a camshaft epiploon.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Attentively study a condition of bearing necks and cams of the camshaft. In case of identification of zadir or scratches replace a shaft. Check also a condition of working surfaces of bearings of sliding in support of the case of the gas-distributing mechanism. The damaged and worn-out support can be replaced.
  2. Having laid the camshaft in prisms, determine the size of its radial beating (by bearing necks) by means of the dial measuring instrument of plunger type. At an exit of results of measurements out of limits of admissible range (see Specifications in the Head Dvigateli) the camshaft is subject to replacement.
  3. Also the camshaft epiploon is subject to obligatory replacement.
  4. Estimate degree of wear and the general condition of the working surfaces of levers of the drive of valves contacting to cams of the camshaft. In case of identification of cracks, cavities, furrows and zadir levers should be replaced.
  5. Check a condition of a persistent plate of the camshaft, in case of need make replacement.

At the increased axial side play of a shaft the plate is also subject to replacement.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before installation of the camshaft install all pistons on identical height. For this purpose turn a bent shaft on the 90th hail. forward or back from situation, the corresponding VMT of the piston of the first cylinder.
  2. Grease the sliding surfaces of dish-shaped pushers with MoS2 lubricant.
  3. Grease all basic surfaces on distributive to a shaft and a head of cylinders with motive oil.
  4. Install into place the camshaft. You watch that the pin was turned up.

The camshaft pin at installation has to be turned up

  1. Grease the interfaced surfaces of the first bearing of the camshaft (from a gear belt) on a head of cylinders with sealant, for example, OPEL 15 03 294. You watch that sealant did not get on cams.

The interfaced surfaces of the first bearing of the camshaft

  1. Establish to the place of a cover of bearings of the camshaft.
  2. Tighten bolts of fastening of covers of bearings in stages in the sequence, return specified illustrations with effort of 15 Nanometers.

At the same time the piston of the first cylinder should not be in the provision of VMT, otherwise there is a danger of damage of the camshaft.

  1. Establish a new epiploon by means of a mandrel, previously having oiled its motive.
  2. Establish a camshaft cogwheel.
  3. Establish a bent shaft in the situation corresponding to VMT of the piston of the first cylinder (see the Section of the Procedure of repair of diesel engines without their extraction from the car).
  4. Establish a gear belt (see the Section Removal and installation of a belt of the GRM drive).
  5. Check a valvate gap (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance of the car).
  6. Establish a cover of a head of cylinders with new sealing laying, and tighten fastening bolts with effort of 8 Nanometers.
