4.4.7. Removal, check of a state and installation of the camshaft with the case of the gas-distributing mechanism

Removal

Removal with use of adaptation

In the presence of special adaptation the camshaft can be removed from the engine without preliminary dismantle of the case of the gas-distributing mechanism. Adaptation is installed on the mechanism case at uncovered the last (see the Section Removal and installation of a cover of the gas-distributing mechanism) and allows to make push-up of hydraulic compensators of valvate gaps. Further dismantle of a cogwheel of a shaft (see the Section Removal and installation of cogwheels of the GRM drive), a face cover and a persistent plate is made. Now the shaft can be taken from the case through an opening in its left end face.

Removal of the camshaft by means of special adaptation

Before installation of adaptation develop a bent shaft on the 90th hail. from the provision of VMT (see the Section of the Procedure of repair of petrol SOHC engines without their extraction from the car) that will allow to prevent risk of damage of the engine as a result of input of valves in contact with the bottoms of pistons.

Removal without use of special adaptation

Without use of special adaptation the camshaft can be removed from the engine only assembled with the GRM case. As the case the same bolts, as a head of cylinders, is meant as well dismantle of the last (see the Section Removal and installation of a head of cylinders).

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Having removed the case of the gas-distributing mechanism with the camshaft installed in it, on X12SZ and C14SE engines disconnect the ignition module, and on the C14NZ engine remove the ignition distributor.

  1. On X12SZ and C14SE engines turn out fixing bolts and remove the face cover established on the left side of the GRM case. Remove a sealing ring from the case, - you can throw out it as at assembly the ring is subject to replacement without fail.

  1. Measure the size of an axial side play of the camshaft, filling edges of the measuring probe between a persistent plate and shaft. If the result of measurement exceeds the limit of admissible range (see Specifications in the Head Dvigateli), the persistent plate has to be replaced. Turn out two fixing bolts and take a persistent plate from the case, - try to remember the adjusting provision of components.

  1. Carefully take a shaft from the case, - try not to injure bearing necks and working surfaces of cams.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Having removed a shaft, study a condition of working surfaces of bearings of sliding in case beds. In case of identification of signs of obvious wear or zadir, the case is subject to replacement, - check also a condition of the corresponding necks of a shaft.

Check also passability of the maslostok provided in the case.

  1. Actually the shaft should not have signs of scratches on necks and working surfaces of cams. If defects of this sort take place, the shaft is also subject to replacement. In case of identification of zadir on working surfaces of cams, study a condition of levers of the drive of the corresponding valves (see the Section Removal, check of a state and installation of valves).
  2. Make sure of lack of signs of wear or development of a persistent plate of the camshaft, in case of need replace a plate.

Installation

If the new camshaft is installed, it is necessary to replace all yokes and all worn-out elements of the valvate mechanism.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. By means of the screw-driver accurately take an old epiploon from the landing nest in the case of the gas-distributing mechanism. Check purity of walls of a landing nest, then press in it a new epiploon (sealing sponges inside) aflush with the external surface of the case.
  2. Plentifully grease the camshaft, basic bearings of the case and a sponge of an epiploon with pure motive oil, then accurately fill a shaft in the case, - try not to damage cams, necks and sponges of an epiploon.
  3. Fill a persistent plate on the regular place, - track correctness of combination it with a pro-point in a shaft pin. Tighten fixing bolts with the required effort. Check the size of an axial side play of a shaft
  4. On X12SZ and C14SE engines establish a new sealing ring on the pure, dry wiped back surface of the case and establish a face cover and tighten bolts of its fastening with the required effort.
  5. On X12SZ and C14SE engines install the ignition module on the case, and on the C14NZ engine install the ignition distributor with a new sealing ring.
  6. If removal was made with use of special adaptation, remove it and establish into place a camshaft cogwheel. Return a bent shaft to the provision of VMT and establish a gas-distributing belt (see the Sections Removal and installation of a belt of the GRM drive and Removal and installation of cogwheels of the GRM drive).
  7. If adaptation was not used, install the GRM case (see the Section Removal and installation of a head of cylinders).
